Constantin Guitars Sweetcaster Custom BLK1 Thinline
This is probably the most spectacular guitar I have put together so far. It blends some of the classic aspects of the original design with modern elements and specs to make it work for the contemporary player.
This is a BLK1 replica that adds a chamber to the upper part of the body, combined with an F-Hole, since I love some of the F-Style thinline models a lot. It also means less weight and a louder acoustic tone and response. The overall weight came out at 3.3 kilos, 7.26lbs or 7lbs, 4oz.
The neck is a C-profile maple neck with relic treatment, a thick rosewood board with 9.5" radius and 21 jumbo frets for amazing playability. The golden tuners are Schaller F-Style M6 locking types, where I changed the buttons to pearloid ones in order to maintain the looks. The M6 tuners are buttery smooth and stable, due to the locking mechanism.
Body and neck are connected via Nectite inserts and screws for easy maintenance and improved tone and sustain.
In terms of electronics, I installed a set of recently launched MF Guitars Steel String Specials, which are based on the set used in the BLK1 that Mark was able to reverse engineer with access to one of the 83 Limited Edition instruments. Furthermore, we're looking at a 5-way pickup switch, master volume, middle & neck tone and a no-load tone control for the bridge pickup, which makes sure that there is absolutely no load when the tone control isn't engaged.
Rounding up the hardware, I installed a Vegatrem and my usual favourite, the Apollo Music Parts trem claw. Both add a lot of tone and sustain to the guitar, while the Vegatrem stays in tune even when you're using the tremolo extensively.
