Constantin Guitars Sweetcaster Classic #0010 Aged Sunburst Ash
Here's the second guitar out of the ash body series, sporting a very nice 3-Tone Sunburst with a soft border into the black edges, showing an almost cherry-like tone in some edges.
The base is a rather heavy ash body with a nice grain and some medium aging. However, I was able to keep the weight down to 3.7 kilos, 8.18lbs or 8lbs, 3.0oz. It purrs like a tiger and looks even more stunning in person.
The neck on this one a bit chunkier, more like a late 50's type, which flattens out the more you move towards the body. But even with my small hands and short fingers, the neck still feels very comfy. It comes with relic treatment and a 9.5" board radius. 21 medium frets. Body and neck are connected with Nectite inserts and screws for easy maintenance and improved tone and sustain.
The pickup set is a hand-wound Q-Pickups Silver Sky replica set, which has been reverse-engineered from the original set used in John Mayer's signature guitar. The voicing is very much 60's pre-CBS tone with a very balanced EQ. Especially positions 2&4 is what you would expect from a set like this. Controls are classic master volume, 2x tone for neck and middle as well as a 5-way pickup switch. Positions 2&4 are hum-free due to a RWRP middle pickup.
Hardware is all classic Gotoh with the GE101TS tremolo featuring steel block and bent saddles. The Apollo Music Parts trem claw adds stability and sustain to the instrument. Gotoh vintage style tuners add the looks and easy tuning.
