Constantin Guitars Sweetcaster #0006 - Aged Aztec Silver
Sometimes you're just lucky with sourcing woods and parts and this guitar marks another low weight record for a model with steel block tremolo and a brass trem claw. This beautiful Sweetcaster only weighs a total of 3.13 kilos or 6.88lbs and resonates like a tiger!
The body is made from torrefied pine and came in really light and very dry. The finish is nitro Aztec Silver with light aging and the typical cracks you'll see on older nitro-finished instruments, retaining some of the high-gloss aspects of the finish.
The C-shaped maple neck comes with a relic treatment and feels nice and smooth in the hand. The rosewood fingerboard is really dark creates a great contrast. Fingerboard radius is 9.5" and it comes with 21 medium jumbo frets. Like with all our guitars, body and neck are connected with Nectite inserts and screws for best tone and maintenance.
This guitar sports a set of handwound Q-Pickups Big Dippers, which are a replica of the set that was used in the first John Mayer Signature Strats and are hard to find these days. They create a very articulate and glassy tone, with a little dip in the mids and a bold bass response. Electronics-wise it's our tried and tested combination of Master Volume, Master Tone and a Blend control that allows for two additional tones to the 5-way pickup switch (neck & bridge or all 3 pickups).
As for hardware, we stayed true with the Gotoh GE101TS Vintage style tremolo with steel block, the Apollo Music Parts trem claw for more sustain and stability and Gotoh SD91 Vintage style tuners.
