Constantin Guitars Sweetcaster Classic #0004
It seems like I am currently using my off-time very efficiently, because I managed to get another build done before signing of to a 4 week vacation next week. This guitar is more of a "normal" build in comparison to some of the previous instruments and definitely a sister guitar to the Lucia Classic #0003 in regards to the sunburst finish and the relic treatment.
Meet the Sweetcaster Classic #0004! For the most part I went with a more traditional approach when it comes to the specs of this build, with only a few minor exceptions. Let's get into it:
The body is made from seasoned alder with a nice sunburst finish and medium relic treatment. It came out very light, so the total weight of the guitar sits at around 3.3 kilos (7.27 lbs). The maple neck comes with a slight aging for smooth and comfortable playing feel and has a moderate C-profile. It features a rosewood fretboard with 9.5" radius and 21 medium jumbo frets. All with all guitars, the body/neck connection is made with Nectite inserts and screws.
The hardware is all Gotoh with a slight aging and the tremolo is the classic steel block vintage style trem for best tone and sustain. To further enhance sustain and tuning stability, we also use the Apollo Parts trem claw, which adds mass to the system and is locked in place to provide stability.
For the electronics, we use handwound Q-Pickups from Croatia for 99% of the builds. This time we went with the Hot Fat 50's Set which is spec'd after late 50's/early 60's singlecoils, but wound a little hotter to get extra bite and fatness. However, on the output side of things they are still very moderate. The guitar features my favorite mod, which is a blend control instead of the second tone knob (see video) and I also included a treble bleed circuit for the master volume, so that you don't loose any high end when lowering the volume on the guitar.
Here's a spec overview:
- Seasoned alder body with sunburst finish and medium relic treatment
- Maple neck with C-profile and slight aging
- Rosewood fretboard with 9.5" radius and dot inlays
- 21 medium jumbo nickel frets
- Gotoh GE101 TS Vintage tremolo with steel block

- Nectite insert & screws for the body/neck connection
- Apollo Music Parts trem claw
- Handwound Q-Pickups Hot Fat 50's Singlecoil set
- Master Volume, Master Tone, 5-way pickup switch
- Blend control to get 2 additional sounds (neck&bridge, all 3 singlecoils)
- Treble Bleed circuit to preserve high end when lowering the guitar volume
- Comes with branded gigbag
- Total guitar weight: 3.3 kilos (7.27 lbs)

In my 25 years musical career I’ve owned almost 70 guitars, GAS addicted. Lot of strats including, F. custom shop, Danocaster and Nash.
But the most important one is my dad’s 62 original strat.
And this Constantin is the most accurate one. I can tell the difference (if I have my eyes closed) only because this one smells like heaven because it’s new. But if you want a real vintage sounding strat without selling your house, this is the best way to achieve that tone, that mojo, those feelings.
And the second tone knob which allows you to blend the bridge pu in position 1,2 and 3 is that plus that gives to this guitar an 11 out of 10.
Now I only have to find a country where a marriage between man and guitars is legal.
Nick.
