AKA "The Guinea Pig"
After careful consideration, I am parting ways with one of the first guitars I had built under the new brand name and always used as a playground for what would then be a great benchmark to see if new guitars would turn out great as well.
This Sweetcaster is a lightweight, resonant and easy to play guitar with a really sweet and balanced tone and amazing sustain. The foundation is a light alder body with a Sonic Blue nitro finish that has been aged with extensive cracks and various traces of use.
The neck is more on the contemporary side with a modern "C" profile, 22 jumbo frets and a 12" fingerboard radius. All of these specs make it really effortless to play and bending strings couldn't be easier. The rosewood board is very even and doesn't show any marks or coloration. The back of the neck has been stained & oiled and as a result, it's a bit darker in that area, but the playing feel is super smooth.
Connection between body & neck, as always, has been realised with Nectite inserts and screws for maximum stability, tone, sustain and if you need to adjust the neck, it will never wear out.
The electronics host my favourite combination of pickups and specs: The singlecoils are handwound Q-Pickups Big Dippers, which are precise remakes of the pickups that where used in the first John Mayer signature guitars and allegedly John found the originals in his first SRV Signature Strat and wanted them modelled exactly like that. They have a slight upper mid dip and create a nice, sort of glassy tone. Output-wise, they're a bit stronger and the bridge pickup really cuts well through the mix without being harsh.
Master Volume, Master Tone and a dedicated Blend control enable for a variety of sounds, together with the 5-way lever switch. With the Blend control you can get bridge and neck together and even all three pickups at the same time.
Hardware is all Gotoh, as always, with the Vintage steel block tremolo and the classic tuners. To enhance tone, stability and sustain, I installed the Apollo Music Parts trem block, which is my go-to for all tremolo builds.
As with all the other guitars, the shipping rates are approximates. Please reach out for a precise quote, since these rates are changing constantly.
