Constantin Guitars Supermaster Classic #0001 Aged Daphne Blue Satin
Finding this pretty unique alder body with three different pickup cavities made me want to try something new for a change. However, it did present a few challenges... and I like a good challenge!
Meet the Supermaster! The body is made of alder and the weight was actually pretty ok for a larger type of body. The finish is nitro satin and the guitar resonates really well and sounds very loud acoustically. The overall weight came out at 3.57 kilos, 7.9lbs or 7lbs, 14.5oz.
The neck is a contemporary maple neck with a slimmer C-profile, 22 jumbo frets and a 12" radius on the rosewood fingerboard for easy peasy playability. Only a very mild aging on the back of the neck, to match the treatment on the guitar.
Now the fun part: Electronics! I tried to match the three different pick types in order to get the most out of this combo. All pickups are handwound by Q-Pickups in Croatia, which is favourite workshop at this point. Bridge is a hot A5 Tele singlecoils with 10k on the meter, middle is an A5 RWRP Strat singlecoil, sitting at around 7k and the P90 at the neck delivers some 8.5k roughly. The 5-way pickup switch is wired like you would expect it, giving you Strat-like tones with some more attitude on positions 1 and 2, thanks to the P90. Master volume and master tone help with tone shaping.
Now here was the first challenge: The electronics cavity was CNC'd longer than usual, so the cover barely fits over it. That's why the attachment srews have a slight angle. Nothing that annoys from a practical standpoint, but I'll mention it anyways.
Hardware is all the good old Gotoh In-Tune bridge for T-Style guitars and Gotoh SD91 vintage style tuners.
